TAHOE HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM:
3058 Hwy 50, South Lake Tahoe, CA, next to South Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce. Features outstanding collection of artifacts from Lake Tahoe's earliest days. Photo library. Hours Memorial Day thru Labor Day: 11:00 am - 4:00 pm 7 days a week. September thru Memorial Day: Saturdays & Sunday's only 12:00 noon - 4:00 pm. GENOA COURTHOUSE MUSEUM:
Genoa, NV. From 1865 to 1916, this was the original Douglas County Courthouse, and for a while, the Post Office was located in this historic building. Then, until 1956,it served as the Genoa Schoolhouse. Today it houses changing exhibits. Washoe Indian basketry, Indian artifacts, and exhibits on Indian life. Gift Shop. ROBERTS HOUSE MUSEUM:
1207 N. Carson St., Carson City, NV. Carson City's oldest standing home is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1859, it was moved by railroad in pieces to Carson City in 1873. The West Parlor includes changing exhibits and historical displays. East Parlor contains turn-of-the-century furnishings and vintage photographs. Seasonal visiting hours May thru October: Sundays only 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. No admission charge. Donations accepted. NEVADA STATE MUSEUM:
600 N. Carson St., Carson City, NV. Originally built as the U.S. Mint, which operated until 1933, and now houses dozens of exhibits ranging from natural history, anthropology, earth science, mining, to archaeology of Nevada and the West. The coin press that turned out millions of Carson City silver dollars is also on display. Gift shop. Hours: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm 7 days a week. Admission is $1.50 for adults over 18. (702) 687-4810

WARREN ENGINE CO. #1 FIRE MUSEUM:
111 N. Curry St., Carson City, NV. Still very much in operation, this was the first private fire company in Carson City and is the oldest continuously-operating volunteer fire department in the western United States. Museum features photographs, uniforms, and antique fire fighting equipment. Hours: 1:00 pm -4:00 pm 7 days a week. Admission is free. Donations accepted. (775) 887-2210

BREWERY ARTS CENTER:
449 King St., Carson City, NV. Built by the Carson Brewing Co. in 1864, the building is now listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Activities vary, including theatrical productions, concerts, workshops, arts and crafts classes, and special exhibits. The Northern Nevada Artists Association Gallery features changing exhibits in a variety of media. Gift shop has handmade pottery. Arts Center hours: Monday thru Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. NEVADA STATE RAILROAD MUSEUM:
2180 S. Carson St., Carson City, NV. The Virginia & Truckee Railroad operated from the late 1860's until 1950. Museum displays photographs, memorabilia, and original equipment from the V & T. WILBUR D. MAY MUSEUM AND ARBORETUM:
Rancho San Rafael Park, 1502 Washington St., Reno, NV. Big game trophies and curios collected by May on forty trips around the world.
